Abstract
1. Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) * South Sumatra in October 2014 amounted to 99.87 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in October 2014 decreased compared to the base year of 2012. When compared to the previous month, October 2014 NTP decreased by 0.91 percent caused by a decrease in the price index received by farmers while the price index paid by farmers in general has increased.
2. The Agricultural Business Exchange (NTUP) of South Sumatra in October 2014 was 104.48 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in October 2014 was better than the base year of 2012. However, when compared to the previous month, NTUP in October 2014 decreased by 0.51 percent.
3. The FTT without the South Sumatra Fisheries Sector in October 2014 was 99.80 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in October 2014 declined compared to the base year of 2012. When compared to the previous month, the FTT without fishing in October 2014 decreased by 0, 92 percent.
4. NTUP Without the Fisheries Sector in South Sumatra in October 2014 was 104.44 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in October 2014 was better than the base year of 2012. However, when compared to the previous month, NTUP in October 2014 decreased by 0 , 52 percent.
5. Based on NTP and NTUP sub-sectors, in October 2014 almost all sub-sectors experienced a decline compared to September 2014 except for the food crops and horticulture sub-sector. The NTP and NTUP which experienced the highest decline occurred in the smallholder estate sub-sector, which fell 2.44 percent and 2.03 percent respectively, the livestock sub-sector respectively fell 0.95 and 0.67, and the fisheries sub-sector fell 0, 64 percent and 0.27 percent. Whereas the FTT and NTUP of the horticulture sub-sector rose 1.97 percent and 2.45 percent and the FTT and NTUP of the food crops sub-sector experienced increases of 0.71 percent and 1.13 percent respectively.
6. Rural inflation / deflation is indicated by changes in the price index of goods and services consumed by farm households. In October 2014 rural areas in South Sumatra experienced inflation of 0.77 percent, all expenditure groups experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in the foodstuffs group of 1.33 percent
