Abstract

  • The city of Palembang in September 2014 experienced inflation of 0.47 percent. The cumulative inflation rate from 2014 to September was 2.48 percent and the year on year inflation rate (September 2014 to September 2013) was 3.25 percent.
  • Based on seven (7) expenditure groups in Palembang in September 2014, six (6) groups experienced an increase in the price index, namely the processed food, beverages, cigarettes & tobacco group by 1.32 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas & fuel group by 0.87 percent; transportation, communication & financial services by 0.48 percent; health group 0.11 percent; clothing group of 0.06 percent; the education, recreation and sports group by 0.04 percent. One (1) group that experienced a price index decline was the foodstuffs group by -0.13 percent.
  • Commodities that experienced an increase in prices with the highest inflation share in Palembang included: household fuel, air transportation, filter clove cigarettes, rice, red chili and electricity tariffs. While commodities that experienced a decline in prices with the highest share of deflation included onions, cooking oil, purebred chicken, catfish, cork and gold jewelry.
  • The city of Lubuk Linggau in September 2014 experienced inflation of 0.44 percent. The cumulative inflation rate from 2014 to September was 3.32 percent and the year on year inflation rate (September 2014 to September 2013) was 3.35 percent.
  • Commodities that experienced price increases with the highest share of inflation in Lubuk Linggau City during September 2014 included: red chili, broiler chicken, apples, household fuel, potatoes and watermelons. While commodities that experienced price declines with the highest share of deflation included onions, cabbage / cabbage, vegetable tomatoes, oranges, goldfish and catfish.
  • Based on the calculation of inflation in the city of Palembang and the city of Lubuk Linggau, in September 2014 the South Sumatra Province experienced inflation of 0.47 percent, the cumulative inflation rate up to September 2014 was 2.57 percent and the inflation rate was "year on year" (September 2014 as of September 2013) was 3.26 percent.
  • Based on price monitoring during September 2014 in 82 CPI cities in Indonesia, it showed that 64 cities experienced inflation and 18 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Pangkal Pinang City (1.29 percent), the lowest occurred in Gorontalo City (0.03 percent). The highest deflation occurred in Tual City (-0.89 percent), while the lowest deflation was in Kudus City (-0.03 percent).
