Abstract

The city of Palembang in October 2014 experienced inflation of 0.80 percent. The cumulative inflation rate from 2014 to October was 3.31 percent and the year on year inflation rate (October 2014 to October 2013) was 3.29 percent.
Palembang City in October 2014, based on seven (7) expenditure groups, experienced an increase in price index in all groups, namely housing, water, electricity, gas & fuel by 0.32 percent; transportation, communication & financial services by 0.24 percent; the foodstuffs group by 0.13 percent; processed foods, beverages, cigarettes & tobacco group of 0.04 percent; health group 0.03 percent; clothing group by 0,03 percent; education, recreation and sports group by 0,00 percent.
Commodities that experienced an increase in prices with the highest inflation share in Palembang included: household fuel, red chili, electricity tariffs, air transportation, household fuel, rice, and shallots. While commodities that experienced a decline in prices with the highest share of deflation included purebred chicken, purebred eggs, conjoined sepat, vegetable tomatoes, oranges and beans.
The city of Lubuk Linggau in October 2014 experienced inflation of 0.64 percent. The cumulative inflation rate in 2014 to October was 3.98 percent and the inflation rate "year on year" (October 2014 to October 2013) was 3.91 percent.
Commodities that experienced price increases with the highest inflation share in Lubuk Linggau City during October 2014 included: red chili, rice, household fuels, electricity tariffs, anchovies, and cabbage / white cabbage. While commodities that experienced a price decline with the highest share of deflation included purebred chicken, broiler eggs, goldfish, tilapia, dencis and beef.
Based on the calculation of inflation in the city of Palembang and the city of Lubuk Linggau, in October 2014 the South Sumatra Province experienced inflation of 0.78 percent, the cumulative inflation rate up to October 2014 was 3.38 percent and the inflation rate "year on year" (October 2014 in October 2013) was 3.35 percent.
Based on price monitoring during October 2014 in 82 CPI cities in Indonesia, it showed that 74 cities experienced inflation and 8 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Tual City (2.18 percent), the lowest occurred in Mamuju City (0.06 percent). The highest deflation occurred in Sorong City (-1.08 percent), while the lowest deflation was in Tanjung Pandan City (-0.12 percent).
