Abstract

  • Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) * South Sumatra in May 2013 was 110.92 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in May 2013 was better than the base year 2007. When compared to the previous month, the May 2013 NTP increased by 0.6 which caused by an increase in the price index received by farmers in general and a decrease in the index of prices paid by farmers.
  • NTP Padi & Palawija in South Sumatra in May 2013 amounted to 124.89 percent, indicating that rice and palawija farmers were relatively prosperous compared to the base year 2007. When compared to the previous month, the NTP of rice and palawija in May 2013 rose by 0.09 percent.
  • Horticultural NTP in May 2013 was 114.35 percent, meaning the level of welfare of horticultural farmers was better than the base year 2007. When compared with the previous month, April's horticultural NTP rose by 1.93 percent.
  • The NTP of smallholder plantations (planters) in South Sumatra in May 2013 was 93.96 percent, indicating that the purchasing power of planters in South Sumatra was still lower than the base year 2007. However, when compared to the previous month, the exchange rate of planters in May 2013 increased0 , 88 percent.
  • Farmer Exchange Rate in South Sumatra in May 2013 was 104.74 percent, indicating that the welfare level of farmers was relatively better compared to the base year 2007. When compared to the previous month, the exchange rate of farmers experienced an increase of 0.06 percent.
  • The Fishermen Exchange Rate (NTN) in South Sumatra in May 2013 was 114.34 percent. When compared with the previous month, the exchange rate of fishermen rose by 0.21 percent.
  • Rural inflation / deflation is indicated by changes in the price index of goods and services consumed by farm households. In May 2013, rural areas in South Sumatra experienced a deflation of 0.24 percent, mainly due to the fall in the price index of the foodstuffs group by 0.51 percent.
