Abstract

  • In February 2013 the total workforce in South Sumatra reached 3,904,978 people. The number increased by around 158,605 people compared to the workforce in August 2012 and decreased by 24,483 people compared to February 2012.
  • The number of people working in South Sumatra Province in February 2013 reached 3,690,603 people, an increase of 157,671 compared to the situation in August 2012 and a decrease of 19,080 compared to the situation in February 2012.
  • The Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in South Sumatra in February 2013 reached 5.49 percent, down 0.21 percent compared to the August 2012 TPT and down 0.10 percent compared to the February 2012 TPT.
  • More than half of the population of South Sumatra who worked in February 2013 worked in the Agriculture, Plantation, Forestry, Hunting and Fisheries sectors.
  • 2,435.8 thousand people (66 percent) of workers in the Southern Province work in the informal sector.
