Abstract

In December 2012 South Sumatra's exports reached a value of US $ 319.07 million. The value of South Sumatra exports in December 2012 decreased by 4.10 percent compared to November 2012. However, when compared with the same period in 2011 (December 2011) exports of South Sumatra Province experienced an increase of 3.33 percent.
The export value of South Sumatra Province in December 2012 amounted to US $ 319.07 million consisting of oil and gas exports amounting to US $ 44.37 million and US $ 274.69 million from non-oil commodity exports
The United States, Malaysia and China are still the main destination countries for South Sumatra's exports, during January - December 2012 reaching US $ 918.43 million, US $ 869.93 million and US $ 860.73 million, respectively, with the roles of the three reaching 60.60 percent of total exports in January-December 2012.
Exports to the European Union in January - December 2012 reached US $ 476.15 million (10.89 percent of total exports). Exports to the European Union have decreased compared to the same period in 2011 which reached 729.56 million. While ASEAN exports reached US $ 974.09 Million (22.28 percent of total exports) or increased compared to the same period in 2011 with a value of US $ 887.64 million.
