Abstract

 The percentage of poor people in September 2019 was 12.56 percent, down 0.15 percentage points from March 2019 at 12.71 percent and down 0.26 percentage points compared to September 2018 at 12.82 percent.

 The percentage of poor people in urban areas in September 2018 was 12.43 percent, down to 12.19 percent in March 2019 and 11.94 percent in September 2019. While the percentage of poor people in rural areas decreased from 13.05 percent in September 2018 to 13.02 percent in March 2019 and 12.93 percent in September 2019.

 The number of poor people in South Sumatra in September 2019 reached 1,067.16 thousand people. It decreased by 6.58 thousand people compared to March 2019 which amounted to 1,073.74 thousand people and decreased 9.24 thousand people compared to September 2018 which amounted to 1,076.40 thousand people.

 The role of food groups on the poverty line is far greater than the role of non-food groups (housing, clothing, education and health). The contribution of the Food Poverty Line (GKM) to the Poverty Line (GK) in September 2019 was recorded at 74.71 percent, an increase compared to the conditions in March 2019 which amounted to 74.56 percent.

 Food commodities that have a big influence on the Poverty Line in urban areas are relatively the same as in rural areas, including rice, filter clove cigarettes, broiler eggs, broiler chicken, instant noodles, granulated sugar, cookies, red chillies, onions, and coffee Instant powder & coffee (sachet). While non-food commodities are housing, electricity, gasoline, education, toiletries and health.
