Abstract

The city of Palembang in July 2013 experienced inflation of 2.92 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 137.48 (June 2013) to 141.49 (July 2013), while inflation occurred nationally by 3.29 percent .
Inflation that occurred in the city of Palembang in July 2013 was due to an increase in CPI in 5 (five) expenditure groups namely: the transportation group by (11.06 percent), the foodstuffs group (4.38 percent), the processed food group, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco (0.33 percent), the education, recreation and sports group (0.04 percent) and the housing, water, electricity and fuel group (0.02 percent). While the expenditure group that experienced a decrease in the CPI was the clothing group (-1.16 percent).
Palembang calendar year inflation up to July 2013 was 6.03 percent, while nationally it was 6.75 percent. While inflation "year on year" (July 2013 against July 2012) in the city of Palembang was 7.30 percent, nationally at 8.61 percent.
Based on price monitoring during July 2013 in 66 major cities in Indonesia, shows that all cities experience inflation. The highest inflation occurred in the city of Ternate (6.04 percent) and the lowest inflation occurred in the city of Singkawang (1.36 percent).
