Abstract

The city of Palembang in April 2013 experienced an inflation of 0.04 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 136.39 (March 2013) to 136.44 (April 2013), while nationally there was inflation of -0.10 percent.
Inflation that occurred in the city of Palembang in April 2013 was due to an increase in 4 (four) expenditure groups namely: the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group (0.86 percent), the transportation, communication and financial services group (0.10 percent ), the health group (0.06 percent) and the education, recreation and sports group (0.04 percent).
April 2013 calendar year inflation was 2.25 percent. While inflation "year on year" (April 2013 to April 2012) in the city of Palembang was 4.75 percent.
Based on price monitoring during April 2013 in 66 major cities in Indonesia, it showed that 28 cities experienced inflation and 38 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in the city of Padang Sidempuan (0.81 percent) and the lowest inflation occurred in the city of Kendari (0.01 percent). While the highest deflation occurred in the city of Maumere (-1.20 percent) and the lowest in the city of Tanjung Pinang (-0.01 percent).
